Disclaimer: This post is mainly for myself, to remember how I felt when comes the inevitable question whether to do it again or not. To keep an accurate record of the upsides and the downsides of me engaging in this very particular activity, to inform a decision that involves quite a bit of money.
I read a Fediverse post simply stating that what makes Twitter bad is the people on Twitter. I do not believe in this oversimplification, even if I believe the Fediverse is a better place than Twitter. But it isn’t because of any people’s quality criterion, rather about general policy and empowering users and admins.
Humans can easily distinguish things 1/10th or 10 times their average size. Beyond that? It becomes fuzzier. To get a better grasp on the very small or the very large, we invented orders of magnitude.
